Kyanite & Pearls

Kyanite is derived from the Greek word kyanos which means blue — and this is an amazing blue.  I once had the opportunity to walk through a glacier.  They had drilled a people-sized tunnel into the depths of this ancient block of ice.  Walking into it, the ice around the mouth began light blue, then became this amazingly intense blue before turning gray as we walked further into the places where the sun couldn’t reach us.   Kyanite is the closest I’ve ever seen to the various tints and shades of blue in that glacier.  The crystalline structure of the gem reminds me of shards of ice and frost in winter.  It’s simply gorgeous.

This necklace is made of coin-shaped kyanite and deep blue pearls with sterling accents.  The pendant and clasp area of the chain is set off by small Swarovski crystals.

Fluorite and Purple Swarovski Crystal Set

Fluorite comes in all the colors of the rainbow.  It’s a lovely transparent stone that is enhanced by wonderful planes of cleavage that add interest and texture to the pendant stone.

I’ve arranged a gradation of faceted purple, pink, clear and blue-green fluorite and set them off by adding sterling silver and faceted purple Swarovski crystal.  The rest of the chain is sterling with a pair of Swarovski crystals at the end.  The earrings are also fluorite and crystal.

Dark Blue Pearls

Pearls are a classic look in jewelry.  To me, pearls mingle harmoniously with everything.  I fell in love with this fun, jaunty  pearls the moment I saw them.  As soon as I laid hands on this strand, I imagined this necklace.  I returned home and began the necklace.

Large dark blue pearls flanked by Swarovski crystals swim along a gold-fill chain with gold-fill accents.  It’s simple and elegant and the fun color adds a great deal of youthful flair to the classic look of pearls and gold.

This amazing blue-green chalcedony reminds me of the warm tropical lagoons and inlets of dream vacations.  It’s unusual color is outstanding.  I paired it with yet another shade of blue-green Swarovski crystal to add sparkle.  Then entire set is peaceful and relaxing.

Blue Lace Agate, Iolite & Pearls

As a little girl, I spent a lot of time with my Grandma. Grandma’s apartment was a place of real wooden furniture, powder blue painted walls, a jewelry box brimming with pearl necklaces, and hand-crocheted white doilies suffused in oodles of love. The delicate white banding of Blue Lace Agate reminds me of the wood grain of the old Morris chair and the white doilies throughout Grandma’s place.

For this necklace, inspired by all the beautiful moments I’ve spent with my Grandma, I combined faceted blue lace agate with faceted iolite rondelles with sterling silver chain and spacers. To complete the necklace, I found a perfect white pearl to use as a focal point and pendant.

Khaki Green Pearls & Jasper

I love finding beautiful gems and matching pearls and crystal to them. This is a lovely piece of mottled jasper that I’ve used as a centerpiece. I found the perfect shade of khaki pearls and highlighted them with golden and smokey colored Swarovski crystals. The chain and accents are gold-fill.

Green Tourmalinated Quartz

There’s something magical about something incased in something else. It’s like a moment frozen in time — or stone, as the case may be. Quartz is an amazing stone. It is easily influenced to many different colors by the minerals around it as it forms and it is keen to surround other plant, animal and minerals. Such is the case with these rods of dark green tourmaline crystals enveloped in pale green quartz.

A green tourmalinated quartz diamond shaped pendant and smaller green quartz rondelles are complimented by Gold-Fill chain and accents and rich, dark green Swarovski crystals.
